Just for today let’s be curious and gently notice whether our thoughts and our kind of thinking make us happy – or rather gloomy…

What we think and how we perceive our thoughts affects our whole system; body, emotions, mind, spirit. What we think can change how we feel physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually.
Sometimes we are such firm believers of our thoughts. We tend to believe our thoughts more than we believe in «God» – God as in our chosen God, regardless if our preference of «God» is a person, an entity, the universe, a religion, atheism, money, a yoga teacher, a politician, a personal trainer, a certain book, a friend, a lover (or someone we wish were our lover), an athlete, a church, a car, a teacher, a dog, a lifestyle we desire, a career to pursue.
If what our «God» expresses is contradictory to our (stubborn) thoughts, beliefs – we tend to believe our thoughts more. So, our thoughts are powerful.
Often, many of us, are stuck in the strong belief that there are no other thoughts or ways of viewing the world, others, ourselves, our life circumstances available. Sometimes we are even so convinced of the truth of our thoughts that we’re not even aware they are thoughts or beliefs that in fact are changable.
We sometimes live in the illusion that our way is the only way. Which of course, I’ll admit, can be a pleasant and comforting, and ego-boosting, belief. «It’s my way, or no way». It gives a sense of reassurance, doesn’t it…
However I want to invite us, just for today, to be curious, to ever so gently see, notice what our thoughts make us think 😉 how they make us feel, act – and thus affect those around us, people, animals, even nature.
How does this particular thought affect me? Does it bring joy, peace, ease, love, lightness, laughter, courage, a feeling of connection or fear, worry, stress, sadness, feeling of rush, hurry, pain, unworthy, small, being in a trap or jail?
Let us just kindly observe. Let us be soft and gentle in our curiosity.
What happens if we ask: Is this thought really true? Or is it a mere perception, an assumption? A cloud passing by? Is it possible to see the same from a different perspective, change the view?
How does it affect this moment, our life, if we constantly believe our thoughts to be true, bare facts of (our) life? And what happens if we open our hearts and minds to question the thought?
So, let’s just for today, see what happens when we notice thoughts that bring gloom and doom into our hearts and bodies, if we the very moment we are aware of it, choose to open the the door to the rehearsal room – and see if we can try another thought that fits us better? A thought that is more present, more tuned into this moment, this day, here now. Let’s see what happens if we change the angle. Maybe what we are staring at in the mirror is an angel – not a beast? Or maybe we suddenly see the beauty in the beast?
May we, just for today, remember that we can choose not to be prisoners of our thoughts. May we remember that colourful, happy thoughts always are available to us, even though they might seem hidden behind the bars right now…
All the Best – Always
